Dell T5400 Audio Driver Windows 7
I recieved a nice Precision T5400 Workforce machine and am struggling to find the correct Audio driver. It has a nice windows 7 Pro sticker key on it, yet Dell does not have windows 7 drivers. I tried the vista 64bit and xp drivers but no avail. I need Sound and i believe chipset too. Any suggestions where to.
Hi, I have recently purchased a Dell T5500 workstation from Ebay. Ordered High Quality Black DisplayPort DP Male to HDMI Female Adapter Cable Converter for Nvidia Quadro 4000 2GB DDR5 Graphics Card. Dual Dell 22' Monitor having with HDMI port. Purchased 24GB Dual Rank ECC 1333MHz Registered Memory. When I put all above stuffs into Dell Workstation, without any diagnostics light, keyboard, mouse is running fine. But I am getting no display on monitor. Any help will be appreciated.
Thanks bhabanisankardas007, I used a Precision T5500 with a Quadro 4000, connecting to a single HP 2711x monitor through DVI I have also used the Quadro 4000 with a DVI to DisplayPort adapter as my current monitors (Dell Ultrasharp U2715H) are DisplayPort only.. Assuming the correct Quadro driver has been loaded, the Quadro 4000 to monitor connection (adapter) is the most likely fault, although. The first thing I would do is to connect to the monitor through DVI or Displayport. As far as I know, the Quadro 4000 has a stereo connection but no support for HDMI. Also, the DP to HDMI adapter may not be backwards compatible to the Quadro 4000 DirectX or OpenGL version. If that does not solve the problem, try another GPU known to be working. Hi I would like to appreciate your thoughts, but my monitor is Dell S2240L 1920x1080 Full HD having with HDMI, VGA port only.
Do you think Display port cable may be the main fault here. I hv already tried Nvidia FX3800 1GB DDR3, Nvidia Quadro 2000 1GB DDR5, Nvidia Quadro FX 580 too. But did not get any display. Please let me know which display port cable I have to use. Thanks bhabanisankardas007, I do believe that the adapter /connector is causing the trouble.

However, the Dell S2240L has one HDMI and one D-Sub connection. It does look like the original VGA but is a modern miniature connector with a higher bandwidth. Given that the cable is the interface between the Quadro 4000 - which does not support HDMI, and a much more modern monitor, I would suggest connecting DisplayPort >D-Sub. There are adapters for this purpose, similar to the DisplayPort to HDMI: >$19.49 I do not know the quality of that example. Cheers, BambiBoom.

You have to install the OEM sound driver so that the AUDIO ESP control panel 'see's' the internal business speaker. Once you do that everything will work the way it did before. The OEM AD198X sound max driver is not optional. Most of the drivers are native to windows 7 8 and 10.
Audio, Chipset and INTEL AMT SOL HECI are the exception.%HECI_DeviceDesc%=HECI_DDI, PCI VEN_8086&DEV_29B4 The AMT AND HECI Drivers are under chipset. Also the Newest Version of the drivers seem to Apply to All Windows AKA XP, Vista, WIN7 AD198X 64 bit Audio. The Save In: window appears.
3.From the Save In: field, click the down arrow then click to select Desktop and click Save. The file will download to your desktop. 4.If the Download Complete window appears, click Close. 5.After completing the file extraction, if the Self-Extractor window is still open, close it. 6.Click the Start button and then click Run. 7.Type C: DELL DRIVERS R255437 in the Open textbox and then click OK. 8.Follow the on-screen installation instructions. AD198X and ANALOG Soundmax AUDIO must have AUDIO ESP to detect the speaker. AUDIO ESP is the Soundmax Control panel Applet that 'sees' speakers and headphones etc plugged into the audio codec OR NOT.
The issue is that by default windows 7 or 8 or 8.1 or 10 will use a generic HD Audio driver and therefore things like the internal business speaker will not work and soundmax Audio ESP is non existant. The solution is to install the Dell driver and then let windows update decide if the driver needs whql update. This is a common problem. The Audio ESP function that asks whats plugged into the port is not enabled in the generic win7, win8, win10 driver. You also have to install DOTNET 4.0 and Directx June 2010 BEFORE installing this driver. You also have to add the feature back for Legacy Direct Show from control Panel.
If you do all the right things in the right order it will work. Control Panel, All Control Panel Items, Programs and Features, Turn windows features on and Off, Then do the checkboxes. You MUST BE online when you do this because it will whine about not finding the features and needing to download them from windows update. There's a bit of an information overload here, with lots of links to downloads etc. Can we simplify this a little? I have a clean windows 7 pro SP1 installation, all windows updates are complete. I currently only have 'High Definition Audio Device' listed in Sound within device manager.
You mention Legacy Components, but i do not have any option for that within windows features. I have the following files downloaded (but not yet installed) R174616 Intel_AMT-HECI_A02_R255437 Intel_AMT-SOL--LMS_A02_R255438 R164900 what order do i install these in, and do i require anything else to be downloaded and installed? The 755 works fine with windows 7 and the drivers from vista.
Enable audio ESP in control panel and restart. There are 379 then 178 then 38 windows updates over 12 reboots. Windows 7 updates are particularly troublesome these days. The business 'speaker' is optional not available on every unit and you must max all the volume sliders to hear it. You did not say that you installed Directx June 2010 dxsetup.exe patch. You continue to state that this and that and the other 'doesn't work ' however I know that it does and I have 755, 760, 780, 960, 980 machines that 'it works' fine on when proper drivers are installed as administrator and Updates are applied in the correct order. Everything from MSDOS 1.0 to Windows 10 works fine on these systems.
