This document was created to aid in the identification of model year and year of manufacture of Columbia bicycles. Sources used were factory serial number charts, dealer catalogs and original bicycles. Every effort was made to be accurate but remember, it is only a guide. Serial numbers only indicate year of manufacture where model numbers may indicate catalog year. The bike could have been made near the end of the previous year. Alpha-numeric sequences also repeat in a few places.
To further confuse things is some published serial number charts have mistakes that have been repeated over and over. I have attempted to correct these using the afore mentioned sources. Used from 1936 until 1946. This starts serial numbers being stamped on frame under crank hanger. The letter preceding the serial number indicates year of manufacture. Often there will be a separate letter with 1 number near the serial number.
This letter is one higher than the one preceding the serial number. This indicates the Model year.
